The Festival of Ukha (Fish Soup) to Take Place in Lukhovitsy Area

On July 26 in the village of Beloomut in Lukhovitsy municipal area of Moscow Region the festival "The Tsar ukha in Beloomut" will be held.

As early as 5 a.m. the contest "Be caught, fish, big and small!" will start. In three hours the participants shall demonstrate their skills in fishing. Three winners will be named: based on the weight of fish caught, the number of tails, the biggest fish caught.

On the bank of the river Oka competitions in cooking, quizzes for children, various presentations will also take place, animated sites and attractions will operate.

Horse riding, a parade of sailboats, boats and kayaks, exhibition of crafts will be organized, too. The programme features competitions in beach volleyball and mini-football. Participants and guests, both, will be treated to tasting of fish dishes, a concert and fireworks.

The awarding of the winners of photo-contest "Beloomut – the fishing area" will take place. The contest was held from July 1 to 22 in two categories "Beloomut – the fishing area", the main theme of which was a landscape picture, and "The slaves of fishing" (photos of fishermen in an extreme situations).

The awards will be received by the winners of the contest "Tales of a fisherman", too.

"The festival of the kind is the great opportunity to spend hot summer days outdoors, it is particularly attractive for active tourists” – says Minister of culture of Moscow region Oleg Rozhnov. – In addition, at the event one may find out what region near Moscow is famous for. Lukhovitsk area, for example, has always been famous for its cucumbers. The fishing traditions are also strong here, at the river of Oka. The history of the village of Beloomut is quite interesting, too. For instance, here until the middle of the XIX century the estate was situated of revolutionary democrat Nickolay Ogarev who 15 years prior to the Peasant Reform of 1861 has granted freedom to his peasants".
